Dissemination is about sharing research with those that will benefit from it. When sharing research it needs to be understandable. For example, it is like translating a language. If someone don’t understand or speak a certain language it gets translated into one that you do know. In research we translate jargon and scientific terms into plain language so more people can understand.
It is important for to share research with consumers. Consumers play an important role in making this happen. They can share research amongst their network and guide how to share research. This will makes sure the research is available to more people in many ways. For example, sharing via online groups, local clinics or videos, easy to read flyers and plain language summaries.
Dissemination was the focus a recent BEAT-CKD workshops. We found three key themes: generating interest, eliminating barriers to access, and demonstrating trustworthiness and repute. You can access the full report here.
