Researchers will share plans and ideas with you. You experience may will be helpful to:
- Make sure researchers present research appropriately. For example, the research should be available in different languages.
- Identify any practical arrangements and extra support to make it easier to take part.
- Look over information for patients. For example, flyers, information sheets, graphical diagrams and plain language summaries.
- Take part in research projects. For example, journal articles and grants to help researchers explain results. You will need to think about language. For example, is it written and formatted clearly and easy to read? Is it appropriate to the target audience e.g. culturally, age, and sensory conditions?
Your perspective will help make sure it is suitable and the best it can be. This will also help consumers decide whether they want to become involved.
“Started helping in small ways, such surveys, pamphlets and attending workshops.”- Amanda (Patient and researcher)
