Remuneration is a way to acknowledge the time, effort and contribution of individuals. It is payment or compensation for a task or job.
This may be through non-financial means such as certificates, recognition, invitations to events, publication contributions and gifts. Financial means include money, and gift cards. Other examples include meals or food, parking, transport vouchers or merchandise.
Reimbursement can occur for the following activities:
- Consumer or patient advisory board/groups.
- Presentation at a conference or meeting.
- Co-authorship, focus groups/interviews.
- Review or consultation of materials.
- Online learning, workshops and seminars.
Organisations may not always be able to or be appropriate to give payment for each effort. It may also vary between projects, organisations and the extent of contribution.
